Charles Scott was delighted to be invited to speak at a careers day at the The Key Education Centre in Gosport. During his presentation to 13-17 year olds, Charles explained his role as a naval architect and explained to students how offshore wind farms are constructed. He also discussed the wide range of exciting jobs available in the offshore and marine sector, from academic positions to vocational roles.
It was incredibly rewarding to see the students engage and show interest in the impressive scale of offshore projects and ask many insightful questions. However we have to admit that Charles was slightly caught out when someone asked how much a wind turbine blade weighs in units of elephants – we will make sure we have an answer for next time!
We would like to thank Inspiring the Future for facilitating this event. It’s a fantastic initiative, and we encourage everyone to sign up - your expertise and experiences could help shape someone’s career.
