Case Study Floating Wind Turbine Quayside Motions

Overview:

Scott Marine Consultants conducted an investigation into the sensitivity of floating wind turbine integration using Orcaflex. This study considered lifting operations from an onshore crane onto a floating foundation considering realistic assumptions, including:

  • Wind and Waves (including very low swell seen in ports)

  • Impact of mooring type

  • Allowable motions for safe lifting

Value Added:

Realistic understanding of critical operations, including:

  • Estimation of Weather Downtime

  • Development of realistic construction schedules

  • Early Identification of mitigation measures

  • Planning of safe operations at earliest opportunity.

  • Risk Mitigation
